Berry College, Rome GA. Many fine old stone buildings and a stunning campus. This is just one of the building complexes on the campus.
This young boy was obviously contemplating whether he should jump in the fountain. Location is Cooledge Park, Chattanooga, TN
This beautiful quarry was used to provide the stone for the Chicamauga Dam on the Tennessee River in Chattanooga, TN. A little known location the stunning color of the water is a result of the limestone in the rock. Turtles and fish abound in this quiet retreat from the city.
Taken at the Cosby campground in the Smoky Mountains National Park about a week before color peaked. The forest here is very uncluttered and the trees are tall and majestic. Normally this type of shot would be somewhat of a cliche but the superb luminosity of the crown rescues this standout photo. Positioning carefully I was able to include the early morning sun that made this shot possible.
There was a nasty ice storm in the Nashville, TN area Christmas Eve 2004. Taken in Goodletsville at sunset, literally everything is coated in ice. Spectacular as this picture is , it still does not capture the wonder of the glittering landscape.
Indian Boundary Lake as the morning fog burns off. This lake is in the mountains and is very still and quiet. Taken in the fall of 2005.
1st place winner, digital division annual PSC competition.
Taken at a ranch down in the southern valley off of the mountain at Monteagle TN. The fall colors were just at the peak. I waited patiently hoping the horse would wander into the patch of light left by the setting sun.
The old Market Street Bridge in Chattanooga, TN just before construction started in the name of renovation. I liked the character of the old bridge which is in the National Register and a notable example of this type of bridge. The shot was taken from a favorite spot of mine in Cooledge Park looking across at the new waterfront pavillion behind the Tennessee Aquarium. This was taken in the early morning to catch the amazing warm coloration on the patio tiles and bridge.
On Lookout Mountain, Chattanooga, TN there is a local overlook known as Sunset Rock. This location is popular with rock climbers and in the print you can see a ring permanently embedded below the gnarly tree for climbers to attach. To my mind this old tree carries almost as much character as the famous tree at Carmel Point. This shot was taken late one afternoon when mist shrouded the top of the mountain.
Wildlife management is a large part of the Berry College campus. These deer were lying hidden in the tall grass. I must have made a noise as I was crawling towards them because their heads popped up looking in all directions for possible danger.
